Chemistry Hall of Fame - Aspirin Nomination Contest
Official Rules
- Eligible nominators are students taking or having completed OAC Chemistry and having never registered
at a University.
- Entries will consist of a typed, double-spaced essay of about 500 words in length describing,
with reference to supporting written or printed documentation, the merits of a nomination to the
Chemistry Hall of Fame. Entries will be the undertaking of eligible students. They must be
accompanied by an Official Entry Form and they must be submitted by their teachers postmarked no later than the published deadline date. Faxed entries received on or before this date will be accepted so long as hard copies follow by mail.

- The only substances that are not eligible are those already inducted, generic substance classes (such as DNA or proteins) and mixtures (such as air or cement). Any eligible substance can be nominated any number of times.
- Up to three entries will be accepted in order of receipt from each school in Ontario. Entries will become the property of the Chemistry Hall of Fame and will not be returned.
- Winners will be announced and made public by the Chemistry Hall of Fame. There will be up to
three awards. For 2000, these will be non-refundable tuition credits each worth $1,500 claimable upon registration in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science at York University in a Chemistry programme. The award does not constitute admission to the programme and to register in this programme, students must be admissible according to the Faculty's requirements.
In addition, the names of the winners and the originating schools will appear on the plaques honouring the inducted substances.
- All decisions of the review panel with respect to all aspects of this awards program will be final.
- Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable. Claim of the tuition credit may be
postponed by arrangement. No cash or other substitutions may be made.
- By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules and consent to the use of their name, photograph
and/or likeness in any publicity carried out by York University or the Chemistry Hall of Fame without further compensation. This competition is subject to all applicable Federal and Provincial laws and regulations.
